Carlos Rodón will start Game 2 of the AL Division Series for the Yankees

NEW YORK – Carlos Rodón will start Game 2 of the AL Division Series for the New York Yankees against either Baltimore or Kansas City.

This was announced by Yankees pitching coach Matt Blake.

AL Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole will start the opener and line up for Game 4 of the best-of-seven series on October 10. Rodón will be in line to play the fifth match on October 12.

Rodón, a 31-year-old left-hander, was 16-9 with a 3.96 ERA in 172 innings over 32 starts in the second season of a six-year, $162 million contract. He was 3-8 with a career-worst ERA of 6.85 in 14 appearances during the 2023 season, which didn’t start until July 7 due to a strained left forearm and back stiffness.

New York has not yet committed to a Game 3 starter.
