Antonio Pierce references Bill Belichick’s playbook on: Davante Adams Trade News

It’s been less than 24 hours since reports first surfaced that the Raiders were trying to trade Davante Adams at the request of the star receiver. Antonio Pierce took to the podium on Wednesday to start the week of games, so naturally the topic of conversation was the Adams trade conversation.

His response was Bill Belichick-esque: “we’re in the Cincinnati script,” but next was the rival Denver Broncos.

Q: You “like” Davante Adams’ post on social media. Was this intentional on your part?

Antonio Pierce: My only focus is on Denver

Q: Have you communicated with Davante and what is that relationship?

AP: Me and Davante talk often.

Q: Have you talked to him since all this happened?

AP: I’ll leave it between me and Davante.

Q: Are you worried that all this will distract you?

AP: NO. Because we’re focused on Denver.

Q: With all the news surrounding Davante, how can you just focus on Denver coming up?

AP: It starts with me. I get paid here to prepare for my opponent every week. I don’t blink, I don’t flinch. I’ve said it before, I’ve been through enough adversity in my life that it doesn’t bother me. I just keep moving forward. The next hurdle for me is the Denver Broncos. That’s what I presented to my team and that’s what they’re doing in the conference room right now, and we’re about to go out to practice and do it against the Broncos.

Q: Do you feel like they’ve accepted the message?

AP: 100%

Q: Will the sales call be with you, Telesco, or a combination of both? How would that go?

AP: I think everyone is involved. Me, Telesco, Mark Davis.

Q: Is there a message, tone or precedent you are trying to set with the Davante Adams situation?

AP: No, just business as usual. You have to keep shooting. Things come up every day. There have been obstacles since I took over the company. This is another one.
