Will poll workers in Indianapolis get higher rates ahead of the Nov. 5 election? – Indianapolis News | Weather in Indiana | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A committee of elected members of the Indianapolis City-County Council advanced a proposal Tuesday to give raises to election workers.

If approved, the increases will take effect from the November 5 elections. The aim of the proposal is to increase the number of electoral commission employees.

On Tuesday, the council’s Administration and Finance Committee recommended that the full council approve Proposition 313. The next council meeting will be Monday at 7 p.m. at the city-county building.

The wage for absentee election workers will increase from $11 an hour to $15 an hour.

Election Day officials would receive $180 per day; it starts at just $100.

Election Day inspectors will see their pay increase from $200 to $240 a day.
