Where should I start my Fantasy Football adventure? NFL Week 5 lineup recommendations by position

It’s the fifth week of the NFL! Things are starting to get serious in fantasy football – wins and losses are starting to matter more and more and more moves are starting to be made across the board. It’s this week the first of eight weeks goodbye this NFL seasonthere have been a number of new and significant injuries in week four, and while some players continue to have breakout games, others are making us lose hope entirely.

So before we dive into Week 5 lineup recommendations, let’s first consider the bye week and some notable injuries.

NFL teams on bye in Week 5: Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans.

RELATED: : List of bye weeks for each NFL team

Notable injuries from week five:

  • Russell Wilson, QB – Pittsburgh Steelers
    • Calves – Coach Mike Tomlin said Justin Fields will remain QB1 for Week 5 as Wilson continues to recover from his injury, and Fields has led them to a 3-1 start.
  • Jonathan Taylor, RB – Indianapolis Colts
    • Upper ankle sprain – considered mild and not currently considered for Inured Reserve. Trey Sermon will replace him with Tyler Goodson as the backup.
  • Joe Mixon, RB – Houston, Texas
    • Sprained Ankle – Listed as day-to-day, but there is a strong possibility he will be able to play in Week 5. Follow training reports.
  • Nick Chubb, RB – Cleveland Browns

    • Knee – Chubb finally returned to practice today after suffering a season-ending knee injury last year. The Browns have 21 days to activate it. It’s unlikely he plays in Week 5, but he could play in Week 6.
  • Jonathon Brooks, Brazil – Carolina Panthers

    • Knee – Still recovering from off-season ACL surgery and will not practice this week.
  • Puka Nacua, WR – Los Angeles Rams

    • The knee will be out for at least another month
  • Cooper Kupp, WR – Los Angeles Rams

    • Ankle – Still recovering from an ankle injury suffered in Week 2 and will miss Week 5. Coach Sean McVay hopes to be back by Week 7.
  • Rashee Rice, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
    • Knee – ruled out in week 5, but the extent of the injury will require further investigation. It was initially reported that he had torn his ACL and would miss the rest of the season, but we will have another update next week. The Chiefs plan to spread the ball among their receivers, so drafting Justin Watson, JuJu Smith-Schuster or Mecole Hardman isn’t the best option. Tight end Travis Kelce will likely see an increase in production.
  • Christian Watson, WR – Green Bay Packers

    • Sprained ankle – will miss week five. Coach Matt LeFleur hopes he will only miss a week, but more evaluations will be conducted. Dontayvion Wicks will be his backup and will be a good choice this week.
  • Khalil Shakir, WR – Buffalo Bills

    • Ankle – Still not out of the question for Week 5, but monitor training reports as his availability will be limited this week. If he is gone, the main role will be given to newcomer Keon Coleman.
  • Taysom Hill, TE – New Orleans Saints

Fantasy Football Lineup Recommendations: NFL Week 5

Quarterback

  • Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
  • Joe Flacco, Indianapolis Colts
  • Justin Fields of the Pittsburgh Steelers

Brock Purdy rushed to a few different targets last week, and while he hasn’t had many great fantasy games yet, he had a favorable matchup in Week 5. The Cardinals allowed 19.1 fantasy points per game to QBs. Justin Fields is starting and Russell Wilson is injured and had his best game of the season last week. scoring 32 fantasy points. This week he will face a weak and defeated Cowboys defense that cannot stop the run. If Joe Flacco is involved, put him against the Jaguars, who have allowed three quarterbacks to score over 18 points and two to score over 23 points.

Running back

  • D’Andre Swift, Chicago Bears
  • Rhamondre Stevenson, New England Patriots
  • Chuba Hubbard and the Carolina Panthers.

Last week, D’Andre Swift split from Roschon Johnson in the first half, but looked more like a starter and ended up scoring almost 30 fantasy points. I don’t see this happening every week, but this time he’ll be up against a gritty Panthers defense. Don’t give up on Rhamondre Stevensen just yet. He will have a chance to play an important match against the team the Dolphins, who have allowed RBs the fifth-most fantasy points this season. Chuba Hubbard has been in good form lately, scoring over 22 points in his last two games. He has a favorable matchup against the Bears, which has allowed three different RBs to score over 18 fantasy points and two to score over 20 points.

Wide receivers

  • Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals
  • Khalil Shakir, Buffalo Bills
  • Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts

Tee Higgins is still working his way back into form after missing the first two games and should continue his upward trend this week when the Bengals take on the Ravens, with whom he has a strong playing history. Khalil Shakir has a favorable matchup against the Texans and will become a target in the slot. Michael Pittman finally had his breakout game last week, scoring 17.3 fantasy points and has an extremely favorable matchup against Jacksonville, which has allowed perimeter receivers to score the fifth-most fantasy points this year.

Tight ends

  • Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears
  • Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Privateers
  • Pat Freiermuth of the Pittsburgh Steelers

Cole Kmet has seen a drop in production since Keenan Allen’s return, but the Bears play at home against the Panthers this week. This year, the Panthers allowed two touchdowns and 171 yards the rest of the way. Cade Otton had a slow start, but has since seen an increase in targets and appears to be finding his place in the Bucs offense. Pat Freiermuth has become one of Justin Fields’ favorite targets and is struggling against a Cowboys defense that is unable to catch the passer.
