The Pittsburgh Steelers are down two players for their primetime game against the Cowboys

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has ruled out outside linebacker Alex Highsmith and quarterback James Daniels for the team’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Daniels suffered a season-ending rupture of his left Achilles tendon in the first quarter of a 27-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Mason McCormick and Spencer Anderson will compete at right guard for who gets the starting snaps, and there could be a rotation again. Left back Isaac Seumalo, who missed the first four games this year, may return to the lineup.

As for Highsmith, he is still dealing with a groin injury that will sideline him for multiple games. If all goes well, he could return next week, but won’t play against the Cowboys. This means Nick Herbig, who suffered an ankle injury, will be eligible to start his second straight game.

As for the rest of the injuries, everyone else has the door open to potentially returning this week, and that includes both running backs and versatile quarterback MyCole Pruitt.
