According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, internal support for Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson may be declining.

– Schultz said on Tuesday Sharp football show that the Jaguars’ locker room “disappeared” and the team started 0-4.

Shocking insight into the state of the Jaguars’ locker room:

“I’ve talked to a few guys in this locker room over the last two weeks.

They told me the locker room was gone due to (Doug Pederson)

Completely rudderless” – @Schultz_Report

After Sunday’s 24-20 loss to the Houston Texans, Pederson probably didn’t impress his players with the way he defended offensive coordinator Press Taylor.

Pederson he told reporters he thought Taylor “called a great match” and what he said next undoubtedly raised eyebrows among some.

“As coaches, we can’t go out there and play roles,” he said. This is a two-way street. So you can sit here and point fingers all you want, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Point it right at me, I can take it. OK, I can take it, so whatever you want. Ask me, say anything, write, go ahead.

Organizing a public defense of an assistant coach is one thing. Another issue is publicly defending the assistant coach, which may give the impression that you are passing the responsibility on to your team.

The Jaguars have lost nine of their last 10 games dating back to last season. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who signed a $275 million contract extension in June, has regressed and is averaging less than 200 yards passing per game. Jacksonville’s defense allowed the third-most yards (380.0) and points (27.3).

In the August episode of the Jags internal video series HuntingTeam owner Shad Khan said “this is the best team the Jacksonville Jaguars have ever put together.” Even if he made the remark a bit hyperbolic, he made it clear that “the expectation now is to win” for the 2024 season.

Jacksonville isn’t winning and players may start ignoring their head coach. The owner’s patience may also run out. After the Jags’ 47-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the team’s Demetrius Harvey Florida Times-Union he quoted a source as saying Khan was “more furious than I’ve ever seen him.”

There is no specific indication that Pederson will practice this week before the game against the Indianapolis Colts. If Jacksonville drops to 0-5, though, it’s hard to see how it will stay up much longer.
