Jelly Roll and the “dysfunctional family” rock out during their State College performance

Jelly Roll blew the roof off the Bryce Jordan Center on Tuesday as he toured the country on his “Beautifully Broken” tour.

The Nashville singer brought with him Alexandra Kay and Hershey, Pennsylvania, native and emerging country singer Warren Zeiders. Kay kicked off the show with an electric performance of her original songs. She was wearing a typical country girl outfit with shiny shorts and shiny cowboy boots.

Kay commanded the stage for 30 minutes of her set, setting the tone for the evening. She interacted with fans throughout, even accepting homemade bracelets from concert-goers and handing out a guitar pick to a lucky fan who sang along to her entire set.

Zeiders was next and the crowd went crazy.

Wearing sunglasses, a PSU-inspired shirt and long curly hair, Zeiders took the stage surrounded by literal fire. The first-time Country Music Awards nominee and recent winner of the 2023 CMT Award for “Breakthrough Male Music Video of the Year” delivered a fantastic performance.

Fans enjoyed the entire set and went wild during the singer’s performances of “Pretty Little Poison” and “Relapse.” Resident of Pa. embraced his roots and put on an electric show.

Jelly Roll took the stage around 9 p.m., beginning by marching through the crowd with his wife, Bunnie XO. The pair high-fived, shook hands with fans and kissed before Jelly Roll took the stage.

The Nashville singer kicked off her set strongly with “Halfway to Hell” and “Son of Sinner,” and then introduced some of her band members, such as guitarist Hangover Jack and drummer Pork Chop.

– Do you want to see the fat guy move? was the singer’s next question before he played halfway through his set. He continued to look through his discography and at one point welcomed new members to his “family”.

“Welcome to our dysfunctional family; it is no longer a concert, but a family gathering,” said Jelly Roll.

Jelly Roll has proven to be a dynamic performer who exudes positive energy and puts on a show unlike any other country concert or artist this year. With captivating sets and a phenomenal band, he proved why he is so popular.

His performance was accompanied by a skull floating on stage, pyrotechnic effects and a live band that really stole the show at times.

After ending the show with “Save Me,” the singer gave fans a final word of encouragement, thanked the State College crowd for their time, and even hinted at another performance in the coming year.

“Never give up, Dad,” Jelly Roll said. “As you go out, Penn State, stay safe and remember that love is all that matters. I love you all. See you next year.”

Jelly Roll will return to Pennsylvania on October 2 in Philadelphia and again on October 5 in Pittsburgh. His new album “Beautifully Broken” will be released on October 11.
