Dolphins will start QB Tyler Huntley in Week 5 vs. Patriots; Odell Beckham wants to open the training window

McDaniel also announced that veteran winger Odell Beckham, who started the season as physically unable to play, will open his 21-day training window this week.

Huntley completed 14 of 22 passes for 96 yards, plus 40 yards and a touchdown on the ground in Miami’s disheartening 31-12 loss at Hard Rock Stadium, during which fans booed the home product.

Huntley started Monday’s game in place of Skylar Thompson, who started in the Week 3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks but left the team early after suffering a rib injury. Neither Thompson nor Huntley have been able to replicate Tagovailoa’s play this season, and McDaniel was asked Tuesday whether his offense was overly reliant on Tagovailoa’s ability.

“When you make lineup changes, people have to step up… we’re not getting there right now,” McDaniel said. according to ESPN. “The bottom line is it’s definitely not one person.”

McDaniel told reporters that he believes the answers to the Dolphins’ problems lie within the organization and that “very specific, direct conversations” need to be had within the organization.

“The most important thing is to play winning football. 11 people have to do their jobs in a connected way, and that’s not happening,” McDaniel said.
