Denver Air Connection’s daily Dubuque-Chicago flights will begin in almost a month

Denver Air Connection’s daily Dubuque-Chicago flights will begin in almost a month

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) – Another new airline is making its debut, promising to provide commercial passenger service to Dubuque.

On Tuesday, community leaders met with Denver Air Connection staff at Dubuque Regional Airport to view a jet scheduled to transport flyers to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

Dubuque County Supervisor Harley Pothoff said reaching an agreement on a regional carrier is the culmination of more than two years of negotiations with various air carriers. He noted that the service will help the community’s economy.

“We bring tourists and funds to our community for small businesses, restaurants, motels, everything,” Pothoff explained. “Everything is boiling and this is what we have to do to keep everything thriving.”

Spencer Whitman, chief pilot for Denver Air Connection, says the partnership will be possible as more pilots enter the service.

“There has been a huge boom, and numbers continue to grow in colleges and universities around the world, and general aviation pilots are joining the workforce,” Whitman said. “It’s an exciting time in aviation, but we’re still in the growth process.”

Starting November 4, Whitman will be one of the pilots taking Dubuque flyers to Chicago.
