Could the Cowboys trade for WR Davante Adams?

Could the Cowboys trade for WR Davante Adams?

As the NFL’s player trade deadline approaches on November 5, reports have surfaced that Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is seeking a trade. With a bit of drama adding fuel to the fire, this is looking more and more like a reality with each passing day. According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “the club has begun contacting teams to gauge interest in the veteran winger.”

And while New York Jets and New Orleans Saints Rumored to be potential destinations for the three-time All-Pro, is it possible the Dallas Cowboys draft him?

Davante Adams to the Cowboys a real possibility?

The The Cowboys lack depth at the wide receiver position. Their star WR1 is CeeDee Lamb, but otherwise Brandin Cooks has had three poor games in a row and Jalen Tolbert has yet to have a breakout performance. Indeed, it was this very issue that led to talks of a reunion with Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Adams is no stranger to being a Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthywho was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers when he was drafted in 2014. Under his leadership: Adams had three seasons with double-digit receiving touchdowns and one with 1,000 receiving yards.

It would be wonderful to have two star wide receivers for the Dallas Cowboys? Of course. But realistically, Adams will come at a cost. One of the reasons for the rumors about the Cooper is the fact that it is affordable. Adams, on the other hand, will cost starting capital and may very well only be a short-term option for Dallasas Adams is finishing up the last guaranteed year of his contract with non-guaranteed years in 2025 and 2026. And as we all know, Jerry Jones has to frugal.
