Are the Seattle Seahawks falling after their loss to the Detroit Lions?

The Seattle Seahawks are no longer undefeated after a 42-29 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 4 at Ford Field.

The loss came against a really good Lions team, but it still caused a slight drop in Sports Illustrated writer Conor Orr’s weekly power rankings. After finishing 11th last week, the Seahawks dropped one spot to 12th.

“Even though Mike Macdonald’s defense was under a lot of pressure this weekend for the first time, I came away from the Seahawks with more confidence than going into this game. It’s important to note that each of their first wins came with a large asterisk, but for most of them, the Seahawks’ offense remained within striking distance of one of the NFL’s best teams,” Orr writes.

The teams ahead of the Seahawks are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers, Washington Commanders, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Lions and Kansas City Chiefs.

The Seahawks didn’t play very tough opponents in the first three weeks of the season, which is why they finished lower in the rankings than the other undefeated teams. Now that they have played against a real rival and lost, they are starting to even out and are probably where they need to be.

The Seahawks have a short week after returning home early Tuesday morning and will make up ground quickly before they face the New York Giants at Lumen Field in week five.
