Aidan Hutchinson’s reaction to Jared Goff’s stellar performance in Week 4

Aidan Hutchinson’s reaction to Jared Goff’s stellar performance in Week 4

The Detroit Lions scored a big win over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football, led by Jared Goff making a perfect pass. Goff finished the game completing all 18 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns. The next day, Aidan Hutchinson was asked about Goff’s performance and his impact on the defense.

“I think it’s pretty obvious, he was put out. If you have a quarterback playing like that, you’re only going to have success,” Hutchinson said. “Defensively, when your offense and your quarterback play like that, it just pumps you up. You know you have more opportunities to get after that passer, and that’s what you want as an edge rusher. Big shout out to Jared and the entire offense. The O-line, the running backs, the receivers, they all played. Honestly, I just sat and watched them and it was fun.

The Lions scored 42 points in the game and with the talent they have on offense, they can score as many points as they want. Add to that they have a solid defense and they could see themselves deep in the playoffs again like they did last year.

Jared Goff became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw more than 10 passes in a game without an interception. After the game, Goff didn’t realize he missed the pass.

“Awesome, really cool,” Goff said. “I think it’s a cool thing, but I’m glad we were able to win.”

Head coach Dan Campbell also didn’t know that Goff had a perfect game and felt terrible because he ended up giving the game ball to someone else.

“I knew he had a great game. I didn’t realize it was perfect. I didn’t know he was literally 18 on 18,” Campbell said. “But I knew he played really well; you could feel it.

“He found his rhythm really early and I thought he saw the court, played with rhythm, had to move around in the pocket a little bit. …Just a few powerful throws. He played with poise.”

Heading into the bye week, the Lions are 3-1 and in good shape in a league that looks very competitive this year. The Minnesota Vikings are undefeated, and the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are 2-2.
