Aidan Hutchinson, Nico Collins, Jake Moody among NFL stats leaders

When former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh arrived in Ann Arbor after a four-year stint in the NFL, he didn’t just help the Wolverines win more games. He also helped the football program significantly increase its NFL draft picks.

Now, several of Harbaugh’s players are thriving at the highest levels in the sport.

Heading into the fourth week of the NFL season, three former Wolverines lead the league in statistical categories. Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson leads in sacks (6.5), Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins leads in receiving yards (489) and San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody leads in points scored (43).

The success of these players is a testament to Michigan’s ability to identify talent and develop it to the next level. The Wolverines are expected to send another large group of players to the NFL next season, with stars like linebacker Will Johnson, quarterback Colston Loveland and linebackers Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant each having a chance to be selected in the first round of the draft. 2025 NFL Draft.

In addition to being tasked with continuing to lead Michigan to victories on the field, head coach Sherrone Moore will continue to intensively develop NFL talent during his tenure in Ann Arbor. Although the sample size is small, Moore is off to a good start in attracting high school talent to Michigan, as his 2025 recruiting class currently ranks 15th nationally and 10th in average player rating, according to 247Sports.
