A Nashville man was found with a stolen gun after he fled from bail officers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Nashville man is behind bars for the second time in a month after fleeing from officers in North Nashville on Monday night, according to Metro Nashville Police.

Police said 22-year-old Cedric Watkins was arrested Sept. 14 on several charges after allegedly driving a stolen car in Antioch; he now faces more charges stemming from his September 30 arrest.

Officers encountered Watkins in a Ford Explorer as he fled the traffic stop before he and two others fled from an alley between 32nd and 33rd Avenue North. Police say he threw his backpack before his arrest – detectives found marijuana and a stolen gun in it. The two remaining suspects remain at large.

According to police, Watkins was already free on $91,000 bail for an arrest earlier this month when he was caught driving a stolen Dodge Ram on Nolensville Pike.

“A pickup truck was reported stolen in Murfreesboro on September 4,” police said. “Watkins escaped from an arrest by vehicle detectives. The Ram eventually lost control on Barnes Road, left the roadway and struck a Piedmont natural gas line, ripping it out of the ground and sending gas into the air. Watkins was arrested and charged with theft, evading arrest, reckless endangerment and vandalism, among other charges related to the incident.

He is currently in jail on $75,000 bail and charged with illegal possession of a firearm, drug possession, theft of a firearm and evading arrest.
