1. Ben Johnson – Detroit Lions offensive coordinator

Ben Johnson came close as offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions. Breathing life into the Lions offense has certainly caught the attention of NFL pundits, and he is one of the top candidates for head coaching positions in the entire league. What Johnson has that could make a difference for Jacksonville is the ability to develop playmakers and create momentum in offensive schemes, which is exactly what the Jaguars need to elevate Trevor Lawrence and get the team back on track.
His strategic brilliance combined with his history of success make him a hot commodity in the coaching market and a perfect fit for Jacksonville’s evolving needs.

2. Klint Kubiak – Offensive Coordinator of the New Orleans Saints

Klint Kubiak has done wonders for the New Orleans Saints offense, especially rejuvenating old veteran point guard Derek Carr. Under his tutelage, the Saints have become a high-achieving machine, usually finishing near the top of the league in points. His creative plays and innovative offensive schemes could be just what Jacksonville needs to unlock Trevor Lawrence’s potential. He needs to build on his past few seasons, as Kubiak’s name has been thrown around quite a bit for head coaching vacancies, and he could bring a breath of fresh air that the Jaguars need going forward.

3. Bobby Slowik – Offensive coordinator in Houston, Texas

Another rising NFL coach is Bobby Slowik. Houston Texans offensive coordinator Slowik has been a huge contributor to the massive changes to Houston’s offense, particularly in building up young quarterback sensation C.J. Stroud. He could be very attractive to the Jacksonville Jaguars because it’s very important to find a coach who can really take them to the next level. Słowik is the newest and future leader of any team looking for new leadership.

4. Ryan Nielsen – Defensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars

Ryan Nielsen is one of the potential candidates to provide continuity for the Jaguars organization, especially since he is their current defensive coordinator. Previously, Nielsen rebuilt the Atlanta Falcons’ defense. He knows the team inside and out, so he could easily slide in if Pederson moves on. Additionally, Nielsen’s defensive skills would greatly help round out Jacksonville’s scheme considering the team is currently struggling both offensively and defensively.

5. Other contenders to watch:

There will probably be more experienced names on the list as well. Mike Vrabel is the former head coach of the Tennessee Titans, and Frank Smith is the offensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins. These are highly respected individuals in NFL coaching circles. Their experience may be what the Jaguars have been missing as it’s time to rebuild and enter this aggressively competitive league.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are at a crossroads, and selecting their next head coach becomes an important step in that direction. While they decide whether to acquire new offensive minds through Johnson, Kubiak or Słowik, the franchise must choose either for internal consistency with Nielsen. The Jaguars hold all the keys with a potential young quarterback like Trevor Lawrence, and the right coach is proving to be the key to success.
