Tom Brady has established himself as one of our greatest living watch collectors. Even when he was an IWC ambassador, he seemed to understand better than most collectors Why watches matter. Since being released from contractual obligations in TK, he has presented a huge range of clothes, from the fashionable Cartier Crash, through the extremely rare Rolex Daytona, to the chic Patek Philippe. Now, for the first time ever, Brady has auctioned five of these watches at Sotheby’s in December.

What Brady has always understood about watches is their ability to capture a moment. A great watch absorbs the taste of the emotions that accompany life-changing events – the tofu of the collecting space, if you will. “I have been fortunate to have had such an incredible journey in my career, and these watches and collectibles truly capture these unforgettable moments and all the hard work behind them,” Brady said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to give fans and collectors the chance to own and cherish these special pieces from my journey, just like I do.”

A seven-time Super Bowl winner, Brady has no shortage of stories and achievements to decorate his watches with. Take, for example, his IWC TOP GUN Edition pilot watch, the lowest-priced piece at auction ($12,000 to $18,000). This is the same watch Brady wore during the 2021 Super Bowl victory parade. More importantly, it’s also the watch that Drunk Brady wore, and it’s probably my favorite GOAT version. (As a New York Giants fan, my real favorite is Super Bowl runner-up Brady.)

These watches are part of a larger themed auction titled “The GOAT Collection: Watches and Treasures from Tom Brady.” In addition to the watches, Sotheby’s will also bring the Michigan State jersey that Brady wore in his final game for the Wolverines, the jersey he wore during the (uninspiring) 40-yard dash before the combine, and other types of wristwear in the form of a wristband. hand commemorating the legendary comeback of the New England Patriots against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. (Brady’s stuff counts at auction: Pats owner Robert Kraft recently paid $120,000 for his signed rookie card.) Sotheby’s plans to bring highlights of this auction to its homes in Los Angeles, Miami and Dallas. Stay up to date with the dates.

And while game-used jerseys are cool, this auction is really about watches. “Over the last few years, as I have known Tom Brady, watches have been our common denominator,” Richard Lopez, senior watch specialist at Sotheby’s, said in a statement. “As he mastered the language of football, he dedicated himself to understanding the intricacies of watches, in recent years creating a world-class range of exquisite timepieces that reflect his deep passion for collecting.”
