Man found guilty of murder in the deaths of his wife and stepson in an East Austin home

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Court records show a man was sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of murdering his wife and stepson.

David Ontiveros was convicted of murdering multiple people. He pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Court documents say that in April 2022, Ontiveros shot and killed his wife, 39-year-old Christina Limon, and stepson, 14-year-old Rudy Limon-Lira, in an East Austin home. Limon-Lira was a student at Travis Early College High School.

Court documents previously showed that multiple gunshots were recorded on security video. The video shows Ontiveros leaving the house and telling police that he “lost consciousness.”

Texas Department of Public Safety records show Ontiveros had eight prior convictions between 1997 and 2017, including for aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm and domestic violence.
