4 Dogs Killed in Two Separate House Fires on the East and West Sides of Indianapolis – Indianapolis News | Weather in Indiana | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Four dogs died and a female dog was “slightly injured” in two separate house fires that left both homes as total losses, the Indianapolis Fire Department said.

The first fire occurred around 1 a.m. on the northwest side, west of Crown Hill Cemetery and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

IFD crews were dispatched to the 1000 block of West 33rd Street to investigate a house fire and located a home heavily involved in fire. They managed to bring the fire under control in 20 minutes.

The woman living in the house told firefighters that she escaped through a window but was unable to save the dog. Unfortunately, the dog died in the fire. According to IFD, the woman suffered only minor injuries.

The second incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of North Bazil Avenue, north of Interstate 70 and Post Road.

Firefighters on the scene told News 8 the home was declared a total loss. The person who lived there evacuated the house with the lizard, but their three dogs died.

It was unclear what caused the house fire.
