Jets vs. Titans Odds, NFL Week 2 Prediction

Jets vs. Titans Odds, NFL Week 2 Prediction

The New York Jets and Tennessee Titans are both coming off of losing their season openers last week and will be looking to pick up their first win this weekend.

Only one of them can claim victory when they face off at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, on Sunday, September 15. The Jets are the favorites at the top online bookmakers. Read on for the Jets vs. Titans NFL Week 2 odds and our top pick.

NFL Week 2 Jets vs. Titans Odds

This difference may seem small, but the fact that it is more than 3 points is significant.

For starters, the Jets are on the road. Road games are always tough in the NFL, but this point spread requires the Jets to win by more than a field goal. Three points is a key number in NFL betting, as many games come down to one possession.

New York’s money lines range from -170 to -190. On the other hand, the Titans have underdog money lines ranging from +142 to +158. The over/under is 41.5 points, one of the lowest NFL Week 2 numbers.

Why the Jets Could Win as Favorites

New York had high expectations heading into the preseason, and one road loss to the reigning NFC champions shouldn’t change those expectations.

The Jets still boast one of the best defenses in the NFL, and veteran QB Aaron Rodgers will soon be back on his feet. Asking him to be great in his first full game after missing all but four snaps last season was probably asking too much.

Led by RB Breece Hall and WR Garrett Wilson, the Jets offense is potent and difficult to defend. The Titans were good on defense last week, but the task this week against Rodgers is much different than what they faced last week against Bears rookie QB Caleb Williams.

Why the Titans Could Have Won as Underdogs

Even though the Jets’ offense poses a bigger test than the Bears’, there’s still a chance the Titans’ defense is pretty good. Tennessee limited Chicago to 11 first downs and 148 yards of total offense. Chicago’s only touchdowns came on defense and special teams.

There’s a good chance this will be a low-scoring game, so every drive will be more valuable than usual. The biggest obstacle for the Titans may be avoiding stupid turnovers and other plays from QB Will Levis, who hasn’t looked like an NFL starter since his first game last season.

If Rodgers is still as rusty this week as he was last week, the Jets’ offense may not offer as much resistance as his talent suggests. In that case, the Titans could be ready to pounce.

Jets vs. Titans Prediction

If the Titans really do have a strong defense this season, it could be the same season as the Jets last year. They had a great defense but a poor offense.

Tennessee plans to lean on Levis at QB, and that will likely be a bad decision. He burst onto the scene last season with a great game, but it took one game for NFL defenses to figure him out. The Bears limited him last week, and Levis made some terrible decisions on top of that.

Even if Rodgers isn’t back to his peak form yet, he has the guts and offensive talent around him to figure it out. Expect the Jets to bounce back and cover that point spread.
