Tigers rank 25th in latest coaches poll

MEMPHIS, TN – After starting the season 2-0, the University of Memphis football team is ranked 25th in the leaguet in the country according to the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, released on Sunday afternoon.

It is the Tigers’ first top-25 national ranking since Week 5 of the 2020 season, when Memphis was ranked 24th in the coaches’ poll and 25th in the AP rankings.

The Tigers are the only Group of 5 team ranked in the Coaches Poll this week after receiving 85 votes. In addition to finishing 25th in the Coaches Poll, Memphis received 38 votes in the AP Poll and landed just outside the top 25 at 30th.

The Tigers recorded a 40-0 victory over North Alabama on Aug. 31 at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium to open the highly anticipated 2024 season, then followed it up with a 38-17 home win over Troy on Sept. 7. Memphis was picked to win The American in the preseason 2024 AAC Media Poll, earning 23 of 30 first-place votes after posting its fifth 10-win season in program history a year ago.

The Tigers will travel to Tallahassee, Florida, for their first road game of the season against preseason 10th-ranked Florida State (0-2) on Sept. 14. The game is scheduled to tip off at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.
