CUYAHOGA FALLS — The Salem boys rose to the occasion Saturday at the Pat Ritchie Invitational at Walsh Jesuit High School.

The Quakers finished second among 15 Division II-III teams with 70 points, behind only Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy’s 55 points.

Sam Yakubek fired up the Quakers, finishing fourth. Parker Warren was eighth, Luke Stephens twelfth, Aiden Wright twenty-second, Alex Rea twenty-fourth and Cooper Barth twenty-fifth.

South Range senior Emmitt Slabach, a two-time state qualifier, won the boys race out of 121 runners with a time of 16 minutes, 21.1 seconds. The Raiders finished fourth in the team standings with 158 points.

The Salem girls finished seventh out of 16 Division II-III teams with 171 points. Erie Cathedral Perp won with 49 points.

Maggie Hall emerged as Salem’s top runner, finishing ninth out of 134 runners.
