Australian tennis player Jordan Thompson just played the best tournament of his life, winning the doubles title at the 2024 US Open.

The 30-year-old has made huge strides in the world of tennis recently – but what about his life off the court? Here’s everything you need to know.

Jordan Thompson was born on April 20, 1994, is 30 years old and comes from Sydney, Australia.

He is currently ranked third in the Australian tennis rankings, behind Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin. In August 2024, he reached a career-high of 30th in the world rankings.

Thompson’s tennis career began in 2013. He turned professional at the age of 19 after qualifying for the 2013 Apia International Sydney.

He won his first professional match at the 2013 Australian Open, receiving a wild card.

In addition to being a great singles player, Thompson has also won multiple doubles titles over the past few years and is currently ranked 13th best doubles player in the world.

As mentioned earlier, in September 2024, he and fellow Australian Max Purcell won the US Open doubles title – his first Grand Slam victory.

The 30-year-old’s idol is Australian tennis player Lleyton Hewitt, who has been an inspiration and mentor to him throughout his career.

Thompson will compete in the Davis Cup this year as a member of the Australian team, which Hewitt will lead as captain.

Off the court, Thompson remains true to his Australian roots and currently resides in Sydney, although he often travels around the world to compete in various tennis tournaments.

Jordan Thompson’s current relationship status remains unknown, but he has previously dated Bachelor degree alumni Brittany Hockley for almost two years.

The couple split in early 2022. Hockley claimed the reason for the split was the long distance they maintained.

“We fell madly in love and, you know, we talked about the future and marriage. And we were just obsessed,” the reality star said Mamamia in November 2022

“Then we realised it wasn’t going to work. I’m too driven and too set in my career here (in Australia). I spent five months on the road with him; we went to Wimbledon and the US Open, and it was amazing. I loved seeing all the families and wives travelling with their partners, and I enjoyed that too. But I attended his matches on my laptop because I still had to work.”
