Auburn NFL Preview: Derick Hall offers harsh words for former teammate Bo Nix

On Sunday, Seattle Seahawks outside linebacker Derick Hall recorded the first sack of his NFL career, coming against former Auburn teammate Bo Nix.

The 12th overall pick in the NFL Draft on April 25, Nix made his debut as the Denver Broncos’ quarterback on Sunday. But Hall helped the Seattle Seahawks make sure the rookie didn’t win on his first try.

In the Seahawks’ 26-20 win, Hall had two tackles, one sack and three quarterback hits on Nix.

A second-round draft pick in 2023, Hall played in every game for Seattle as a rookie. He was on the field for 307 defensive snaps but did not record a sack in 2023. Hall had 38 tackles and five quarterback hits in 2023.

Hall recorded his first NFL sack, beating Nix on first-and-10 play at the Seattle 27-yard line with seven seconds left in the first half.

Hall was one of 19 former Auburn players to take the field on the first Sunday of the 105th NFL season.

Hall and Nix were teammates at Auburn during the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons. Nix transferred to Oregon, where he played the previous two seasons.

In his first game, Nix completed 26 of 42 passes for 138 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions and ran five times for 35 yards and a touchdown. Nix scored his first NFL TD on a 4-yard run with 2:09 left.

Two other former Auburn players played in the Denver-Seattle game:

Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett (Jackson) did not record any stats in his first NFL game. Pritchett was taken by Seattle in the fifth round of the NFL Draft on April 27.

Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham was ready to play but did not play.
