Nashville band Post Sex Nachos play at The Cotillion, wake up to find their gear stolen

The first show of Nashville rock band Post Sex Nachos’ tour took place Thursday at The Cotillion.

The band then loaded more than $20,000 worth of musical equipment onto a trailer attached to the tour van. The trailer also contained $5,000 worth of merchandise.

When they woke up in Wichita on Friday morning, the trailer was gone, band members said on Facebook and GoFundMe.

“We basically live off of this trailer, and most of it is irreplaceable; but we need to be able to play music to survive,” the fundraiser says. “We’re asking for any help we can get to replace our instruments so we can continue playing.”

Donations have poured in since the fundraiser began Friday morning.

As of Saturday afternoon, the fundraiser had raised more than $28,300 from 476 donors, enough to continue the tour, which will hit 11 more cities in September, including stops in Colorado, Texas, Louisiana and Georgia.

“We woke up to a nightmare, but we felt more supported and uplifted than we ever thought possible,” Post Sex Nachos wrote in a fundraising update Friday. “Gratitude and humility are not enough — we’ll keep you updated in the coming days, but thanks to you, we’re able to continue; not only on this tour, but in our careers as musicians.”

They had shows scheduled for Friday night in Denver, Saturday in Boulder and Sunday in Lincoln, Neb. It’s unclear how the theft will affect those shows.

“I am so sorry this happened to you in our beautiful city,” one person wrote on the band’s Facebook page about the theft. “You were amazing. I’ve already listened to your album and I sincerely hope this doesn’t stop you from coming back someday.”

The team did not immediately respond to additional questions. Police also did not immediately provide any additional details.
