Bijan Robinson throws body at Michigan during their big battle with Texas

Texas is back in full force. A Big 12 win and a run to the final four-team College Football Playoff have already proven that point, but what a beating the Longhorns gave the defending national champions in their place Saturday afternoon. Former Texas star and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Bijan Robinson watched from home, impressed with his guys.

The Doak Walker Award winner is expected to help elevate the Falcons’ offense to new heights this season. He may have played an even bigger role in setting the tone for what’s acceptable to play on the sidelines in Saturday’s burnt orange college football games. Even without C.J. Baxter this season, Austin’s running backs corps looks at least stable.

What we saw Saturday were two ships passing each other in broad daylight. Texas is headed in some direction, while Michigan is regressing. While Michigan is certainly a better team than the one we saw this week, Texas could be good enough to win a national championship this season. That’s why the Horns are ranked No. 3. Michigan dropped from No. 9 to No. 10 after last week, and will drop even lower now.

Robinson believes his alma mater is the future of college football, and he may be right.

Of course, Texas has to play in the same league that teams like Alabama and Georgia currently play in…

One of the things I like most about Robinson after talking to him last year is how incredibly upbeat and optimistic he is about everything. He has an infectious personality that makes everyone want to be his friend. Even though he’s currently dunking all over Michigan, I wouldn’t be surprised if he somehow fixed that and became the most popular person in Ann Arbor.

His ability to do everything out of the backfield is why the Falcons took him in the top 10 of the 2023 NFL Draft. It’s truly shocking how little their former coach Arthur Smith enjoyed giving him the ball. Surely Raheem Morris will do what Steve Sarkisian enjoyed doing in Austin in the future. In the meantime, Robinson has to prepare to beat his former coach’s team at The Benz Sunday.

Ultimately, your team is only as good as your best and most recent win. Michigan may be a shadow of its former self, but the Wolverines won the national championship last season. Texas had a chance to play for one, but fell short against Robinson’s new Falcons teammate, Michael Penix Jr.’s Washington Huskies. For now, expect Texas to shine and the Falcons to improve significantly.

Texas is winning right now and I don’t know if anyone but Georgia has a chance of stopping them.
