Xavier Worthy has arrived.

The Kansas City Chiefs rookie scored two touchdowns in just over three quarters of his NFL regular-season debut on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens, scoring a rushing touchdown in the first quarter and a touchdown on a long reception early in the fourth.

During that time, he scored two tries after just three touches of the ball.

The fact that he was even on the Chiefs seems awfully surprising in retrospect, considering that Kansas City had finished the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs in three of the last four years. That made Buffalo’s decision to trade the Chiefs the No. 28 pick in the first round, along with a fourth-round pick, for the No. 32 pick and a third-round pick a bit surprising.

The Chiefs, of course, used that pick to take Worthy, and it didn’t take long for fans to turn his early success into an opportunity to mock the Bills:

Worthy could be a bit of a feast or famine for fantasy players, though. Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, and Marquise Brown (when he returns from injury) all have much better chances of getting consistent targets. Worthy’s ability to turn the targets he does get into big plays, though, will keep him in the flex conversation all season long.

Speaking of Rice, he was Mahomes’ primary target on the night and certainly looked like a potential WR2 in PPR leagues going forward. Assuming he remains eligible for the full season, he could be poised for a breakout year.

The other big fantasy star of the night was Baltimore middle linebacker Isaiah Likely, who may have just passed Mark Andrews as the Ravens’ top middle linebacker. At the time of publication, Likely had six receptions for 91 yards and a score, compared to just one reception for 11 yards for Andrews.

The risk with starting either player on any given week is that the other is likely to be Lamar Jackson’s primary choice in this matchup. Andrews has long been one of Jackson’s most trusted targets — he’ll be a big part of this offense. But Likely is a playmaker and will drain targets.

It’s very possible that the mutual attraction and repulsion between the two could limit each to lowly TE1 status, if not outright TE2. At the very least, Likely needs to be considered in your lineup every week — he was incredible on Thursday.
