What Bookmakers Say About Chiefs 2024 Season

What Bookmakers Say About Chiefs 2024 Season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – There is optimism for the Kansas City Chiefs football season, which begins Thursday night when the defending Super Bowl champions host the Baltimore Ravens in an AFC Championship rematch.

As Kansas City looks to do something no other team in NFL history has done, here’s what bookmakers have to say about various Chiefs-related bets heading into the 2024 season.

Chiefs to win Super Bowl 59 +575 (Caesars)

Kansas City is the favorite to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy again next February. No team in NFL history has won three consecutive Super Bowls, but the Chiefs are one of eight teams to ever win two in a row.

When the last Super Bowl ended with Kansas City winning in overtime over the San Francisco 49ers, the Chiefs had the second-best chance of making it to the 2024 season. Now they are the favorites.

Total Wins Over/Under 11.5 (-115)

As expected, as the team with the best odds to win the Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs have the highest win over/under to start the year — tied with the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions, who played in the NFC Championship in January. The Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles all have 10.5 wins/total overs.

AFC Championship Winner +350 (FanDuel)

The Chiefs have reached the AFC Championship Game in each season that quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been the starter for Kansas City. This year, they are the favorites to reach it again and win the game, at +300. The Ravens (+550), Bengals (+750) and Houston Texans (+800) are the other three teams in the odds according to FanDuel.

AFC West Winner -270 (FanDuel)

If you’re looking for a plus bet, the AFC West winner isn’t the place for you. But it’s further evidence that bookmakers believe the Chiefs will win their ninth straight division title. Kansas City’s current streak of eight straight division wins is the second-most in NFL history, trailing only the New England Patriots, who have won 11 in a row during the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era.

NFL Most Valuable Player – Patrick Mahomes – +475 (DraftKings)

Mahomes is a two-time MVP, winning the award for his play in 2018 and 2022. Last season, he had career-lows in passing yards and passing touchdowns and a career-high in interceptions. FanDuel projects Mahomes to pass Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (+800) and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (+1,000) to win the award for a third time.

NFL Coach of the Year – Andy Reid – +6000 (FanDuel)

Andy Reid has won the AP NFL Coach of the Year award just once in his career, and that was more than two decades ago in 2002. During the offseason, the Chiefs extended Reid’s contract through 2029.

Despite winning two consecutive Super Bowls, the 66-year-old coach has the worst odds to win the award on FanDuel. Reid’s odds are better than only four other coaches on DraftKings, and bookmakers typically award the award to a coach whose team exceeds expectations, not one who consistently dominates.

Perhaps the only way for Reid to win the award a second time would be for the Chiefs to have a perfect or near-perfect season in 2024.
