South Point Grocery to Open in Silo Square in Southaven in 2025: What You Need to Know

South Point Grocery to Open in Silo Square in Southaven in 2025: What You Need to Know

Silo Square, the largest mixed-use development in DeSoto, officially has its own grocery store.

South Point Grocery will soon occupy a roughly 20,000-square-foot site at 6295 Front St., behind Tekila Modern Mexican, according to a Thursday news release from Silo Square Chief Marketing Officer Lexie Hill Grisanti. Work on the site has already begun — construction will begin in the fall, with a grand opening expected in mid-2025.

The store was leased to local company Castle Retail Group, which currently owns and operates other independent grocery stores in the Mid-South region, including High Point Grocery and South Point Grocery in downtown Memphis.

Brian Hill, developer of Silo Square, said he wants Silo to feel like a traditional old town, and having a grocery store is integral to that idea.

“I’ve never walked into a grocery store as tastefully done as South Point,” Hill said. “The shopping sucks, I mean, who wants to go to a grocery store? But this is a really cool place. It’s a fraction of the size of a big grocery store, but you still have everything you could possibly need.”

The downtown South Point Grocery, which will be similar to the store in Southaven, offers amenities such as an in-house butcher shop, a large craft beer selection and a deli section.

“Our goal is to provide our customers with a great in-store experience,” said Rick James, CEO of Castle Retail Group. “For us, that means a clean store with a focus on the highest quality, fresh food, an emphasis on full shelves, innovative variety and interaction between customers and staff that transforms grocery shopping from a chore to an enjoyable part of the week.”
