Rams place quarterback Darious Williams on injured reserve – Daily News

LOS ANGELES — The Rams placed quarterback Darious Williams on the injured reserve list on Thursday, ruling him out for at least the first four games of the season.

Williams, who returned to the Rams this offseason as a free agent after spending two years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, strained his hamstring in the first week of training camp. He returned to practice recently and participated in limited practice on Wednesday.

Coach Sean McVay said before Wednesday’s practice that Williams had not suffered any aggravation from the injury.

“He had a hamstring injury earlier in camp, but he’s progressing,” McVay said.

Williams’ absence leaves the Rams in a difficult position at linebacker heading into Sunday’s season opener against the Detroit Lions.

Third-string cornerback Decobie Durant is dealing with his own hamstring injury and has been limited for the past three practices. If he can’t play Sunday, the Rams could rely on undrafted rookies Josh Wallace and Charles Woods to start opposite Tre’Davious White.
