Ocean views, historic hotels and more news from the South

South Carolina

Historic hotel located in the heart of Charleston’s historic district, Place Charleston is currently undergoing a $150 million renovation that will transform the entire 36,000-square-foot meeting and event space, including a 14,000-square-foot ballroom, a variety of meeting rooms, a conference theater and a rooftop terrace.

The renovation is expected to be completed in September. The renovation will also create two 1,350-square-foot conference rooms, a second set of restrooms and an expanded pre-function space. Existing meeting and event spaces will receive improvements, including new paint, lighting, furniture, wall coverings, carpets and drapes.

Hilton has opened its newest dual-brand hotel, Ellie Beach Resort in Myrtle BeachTapestry Collection by Hilton and DoubleTree Resort by Hilton, on Springmaid Beach in Myrtle Beach. The oceanfront resort offers a variety of amenities, including two on-site restaurants, six swimming pools, miniature golf, sports courts and a 24-hour fitness center.

The hotel also offers a variety of indoor and outdoor event spaces, including two 8,500-square-foot ballrooms, an 8,500-square-foot exhibit hall, a 35,000-square-foot function space, and a 100,000-square-foot outdoor lawn and event space. The hotel can accommodate events for up to 650 attendees.

Tennessee

Originally built in 1927 as a bank, Courtyard Marriott Nashville Downtown renovations to guest rooms, hallways and fitness center have been completed. Located in Nashville’s Printer’s Alley, the hotel’s 192 guest rooms now feature new carpeting, vinyl walls, paint, furniture, artwork and drapes.

The hotel is close to many popular Nashville attractions, including Ryman Auditorium, Bridgestone Arena, Country Music Hall of Fame, Centennial Park and Nissan Stadium.

The Courtyard Marriott Nashville Downtown also features 3,800 square feet of meeting space, including a 1,560-square-foot Exchange Room that can accommodate up to 93 participants and a 700-square-foot Cashier Room that can accommodate up to 50 participants.

Texas

Located near the Port of Corpus in Corpus Christi, the recently renamed Holiday Inn Corpus Christi Airport & Conference Center renovations were completed. Known to many in the area as the Corpus Christi Atrium Hotel, the property has regained its original Holiday Inn branding and is now managed by Remington Hospitality.

The hotel offers 6,800 square feet of meeting and event space, 236 guest rooms and an on-site bar and restaurant. Meeting spaces include the Lonestar Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 600 participants, and the Alamo, Rio Grande and Big Bend rooms, each accommodating up to 50 participants. The hotel also offers a swimming pool, fitness center and an 18-hole off-site golf course overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.

Amrit Ocean Resort is a newly opened beachfront wellness resort located on Singer Island in Palm Beach County, Florida. Spanning seven acres of Atlantic Ocean beach and surrounded by sand dunes and conservation areas, this 155-room property offers over 103,000 square feet of wellness and spa space across four floors. The resort is also close to Palm Beach International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the West Palm Beach Brightline Station.

Guests can choose from a variety of spa and wellness treatments, including ashiatsu and shiatsu massages, reiki, reflexology, manual lymphatic drainage, craniosacral therapy, muscle fascia release, facials, flotation therapy, acupuncture, sound wave therapy and more. Amrit Ocean Resort offers a fitness center with a 3,500-square-foot cardio studio and six breakout studios for group fitness and wellness classes, such as yoga, meditation, mat pilates and indoor cycling.

The resort also has 10,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and nearly three and a half acres of outdoor space overlooking the ocean. Indoor event spaces include the 4,300-square-foot Hibiscus Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 300 attendees; the 860-square-foot Lotus Room, which can accommodate up to 30 attendees; and the 800-square-foot Jasmine Room, which can accommodate up to 90 attendees.
