Marlon Wayans Reveals Why His Family Left In vivid colors at the peak of his success.

The comedy show, created by his brother Keenen Ivory Wayans, premiered on Fox in 1990 and aired for five seasons until 1994.

While the series provided a launching pad for a number of stars, including Jennifer Lopez, Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx, it ultimately proved to be a family affair, as Marlon, 52, and Keenen, 66, were joined by their siblings Damon Wayans, Kim Wayans and Shawn Wayans.

Marlon shared this during an appearance in The Guardian on Wednesday, September 4. Shay Shay Club podcast, where he said his family left the show after the fourth season because it was “making a difference in Keenen’s pockets.”

“I remember when we were leaving In vivid colors because Fox was syndicating the show and it hurt Keenen’s pockets. Keenen said, ‘No, you’re not going to do that to me,'” Marlon recalled. “My family said, ‘Fuck the money.’ And we all left. In vivid colors.

The comedian recalled a 1992 Christmas episode titled “Driving Miss Schott,” in which he and his siblings decided to protest the show by donning black sunglasses while Foxx, 56, sang “This Christmas.”

“You will not f**k my brother. We are family. You touch one, you touch all,” Marlon said of their decision.

While the actor claims they were offered “big checks” to stay on the show, he adds that his family decided to “support” his brother and leave.

“That’s why season five got weird. He got Biz Markie. God bless Chris Rock, (but) he came at a bad time. As brilliant as he was, he couldn’t save it. Because the eyes of the show were gone,” Marlon said.

After leaving the show, Marlon said he was “broke” with “only $700 in the bank and $900,” which motivated him to work on Wayans Brothers., aired for five seasons from 1995 to 1999.
