Chiefs WR Rashee Rice has 100+ yards in first game after offseason incidents

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice has 100+ yards in first game after offseason incidents

After an offseason full of drama, Rashee Rice clearly hasn’t had a moment’s rest.

In April, the Chiefs second-year offensive tackle and former SMU Mustang was involved in a high-speed crash on a Dallas freeway and was arrested after turning himself in. Additionally, in May, he was involved in an alleged incident with a photographer, also in Dallas.

But he was available to play in the Chief’s Week 1 game against the Ravens on Thursday night in the 2024 NFL season opener. And he played.

Rice proved to be just as formidable a threat for the Chiefs as he was in his rookie season, as the 24-year-old led the Chiefs with seven receptions and 103 yards receiving in the game.

It’s still possible, perhaps likely, that the receiver will face some form of discipline from the league during the season. Rice participated in offseason workouts with the Chiefs during training camp. Commissioner Roger Goodell commented on the situation ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, saying the league would allow the legal process to continue before making any decisions.

Until then, it looks like the Chiefs still have a valuable player in Rice.
