INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved a $300 million project in the city’s downtown that will include construction of a new hotel and concert hall.

The commission unanimously approved the Boxcar Development LLC project Wednesday evening.

The project will be built on the site of the former CSX building on Pennsylvania Street, across from Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Plans call for a 13-story Shinola Hotel with 170 rooms. Plans call for a 13-story Shinola Hotel with 170 rooms.

Shinola is best known for its boutique hotel in downtown Detroit.

The concert venue, a collaboration with Live Nation, will accommodate 4,000 people.

The new buildings will include a multi-storey car park and a footbridge connecting to Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Construction is scheduled to start at the end of this year and be completed in September 2027.

Herb Simon and the Simon family are financially supporting the project.
