The ABC 6 news team presents local, regional and national news, event details and breaking news, along with the latest sports and weather information, including an extended weather forecast.

(ABC 6 News) – Rachel’s Hope provides those in need with basic necessities and a safe place to live.

They’ve been doing this for over two decades.

“Rachel’s Hope has been serving the Austin and surrounding areas for 25 years, offering a variety of pregnancy and parenting resources,” said Linda Lavallie, executive director of Rachel’s Hope.

They offer free pregnancy tests, education, and a variety of programs.

It doesn’t stop there. This nonprofit also provides food, clothing, and diapers to families in need.

Most importantly, Rachel’s Hope brings together parents who are on the same journey.

“When I had a really tough day, I was able to reach out and say, ‘Hey, I really need someone to take care of the kids for two hours,’ so I had a great connection and great support,” said Mariah Simons, a volunteer with Rachel’s Hope.

Rachel is always looking to help more families, but some have been coming back for years.
people like Lydia Quezhulpa.

“I would say support. If you ever have a question or you’re looking for something and you know someone in the community who needs help, you can send them a message on Facebook and usually within 24 hours you’ll get a response.”

Although Rachel’s Hope has been around for 25 years, the organization is preparing for its 7th annual fundraising March for Life.

Not only to provide much-needed support, but also so families can simply take a break from their daily routine.

“We walk around the lake and hide pacifiers all along the lake, and the kids can look for the pacifiers and give them away as prizes,” Lavallie said.

The March for Life fundraiser will be held next Saturday at 10:00 AM at East Side Lake.

The event is open to the public. Organizers hope to continue to help more people in their community.
