“I had to adjust the energy”

“I had to adjust the energy”

The Boston Celtics kicked off the summer with a championship parade through the streets of Boston. At one point, coach Joe Mazzulla energized the crowd by jumping off his duck boat to high-five fans.

In an interview with John Karalis on Locked On Celtics, Mazzulla spoke about the intensity of the celebration.

“It’s one of the most intense things I’ve ever been a part of, and one of the coolest moments I’ve ever been a part of. As much as I would have liked to just sit there stoic and enjoy the process, I felt like I had to match the energy of the people. It was freeing because it was one of the moments where I could be as intense as the people around me. It was like intensity and passion.”

Looking forward to next season, Mazzulla is ready to take on his role as the defending champion Celtics.

“People will say the target is on our backs, but I hope it’s right on our forehead, between our eyes. I hope I see a red dot.”
