How to Watch USC Trojans vs. Utah State, Comcast/Xfinity Big Ten Network Blackout

In their home opener, the No. 13 USC Trojans (1-0) host Utah State (1-0) on Saturday, September 7 at 8:00 p.m. PT. The Trojans look to continue their momentum in their inaugural Big Ten Conference season, following a huge Week 1 victory over the LSU Tigers in front of a national audience of 9.2 million.

The Trojans would be wise not to ignore Utah State of the Mountain West Conference, which has a track record of beating AP top 25 teams. The Aggies have won five of their last 17 games against ranked teams.

HOW TO WATCH

The game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network. Unfortunately, that means many USC fans will not be able to watch their favorite football team this Saturday. The Big Ten Network made a huge mistake at the beginning of the new conference era.

A disagreement between Comcast/Xfinity and the Big Ten Network has led to power outages in California and the Pacific Northwest. Already, many USC, Washington Huskies, Oregon Ducks and UCLA Bruins fans have been affected.

Unless there is a later agreement, USC and Washington fans on Comcast/Xfinity will not be able to watch Week 2 games. UCLA is on hiatus, and the Oregon game will be broadcast on Peacock.

Here is a statement from a Comcast spokesperson on the Xfinity-Big Ten Network impasse.

“As the only distribution partner to decline to work with us, Comcast/Xfinity viewers in many areas will not have access to live coverage of the highly anticipated B1G season openers for Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington,” the Big Ten Network said in a statement.

A similar distribution problem occurred when Nebraska, Rutgers, and Maryland were added to the Big Ten and the issue was resolved. Unfortunately for West Coast sports fans, it appears there is no urgent deadline.

The Trojans are on a roll heading into the 2024 college football season. USC jumped from No. 23 to No. 13 in the AP Top-25, a 10-point jump that was the biggest move of the week.

The Trojans enter their first season in the Big Ten Conference with quarterback Miller Moss at the helm. In a win over LSU, Moss finished with a career-high 378 yards on 27-of-36 (.750) and one touchdown in a 27-20 victory. The sophomore’s chances for the Heisman Trophy have skyrocketed, and he’s been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.
