Grizzlies GG Jackson II underwent surgery after foot injury

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis guard GG Jackson II underwent surgery Wednesday on the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. The Grizzlies said Jackson will be re-evaluated in three months.

The Grizzlies have updated Jackson’s injury, which they first reported on Aug. 30. Jackson injured his foot on a jump shot during a basketball game in Texas last week.

Jackson, 19, was selected in the second round of the 2023 NBA draft by Memphis. In 48 games, including 18 starts, he averaged 14.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.

Jackson was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team and was a bright spot in an injury-plagued Grizzlies season that saw him finish with a 27-55 record.
