Exhibitor Presentation Summary, Part 2

Exhibitor Presentation Summary, Part 2

Commercial UAV Expo 2024 hosted two Exhibitor Showcases. These events gave Expo attendees the chance to hear from 24 companies and organizations and learn about new hardware, software enhancements, tools to improve data collection and security, business services, and more.

Below is the second part of our Exhibitor Showcase recap. The final recap will be up tomorrow. additional

Warren Community College

Warren Community College President Will Austin spoke to attendees about the numerous unmanned aircraft degree programs and learning opportunities available at his school. Currently, the school’s WarrenUAS program enrolls 75 students in both degree and certificate programs. Warren students can receive Part 107 training, instruction in flying, building and repairing drones, courses in imaging systems such as photogrammetry and more. During his talk, Austin described a number of drone-related projects his students have worked on over the years, including a drone-based photogrammetry project at a train station in Newark, New Jersey, helping model a museum in Pennsylvania, collecting drone images to better understand bear damage to New Jersey farms and using drones to collect multispectral images of a cannabis farm to determine the health of the crop.

Synerex

During the presentation, CEO JD Park spoke on behalf of Synerex and outlined a range of offerings from the South Korea-based company. These included a GNSS RTK receiver, a drone pilot assistant, an educational drone and more.

Silvus Technologies Inc.

Silvus representative Tom Blier described his company’s proprietary wavelength technology that is designed to enable long-range BVLOS drone flights and unmanned missions over people. Working with UxV manufacturers and OEMs, Silvus Technology offers radio communications solutions that enable communication in crowded and contested environments. Blier said these systems are ideal for police departments, federal security agencies and other government agencies that use drones in their operations.

Skyline Software

With two presenters – Commercial Sales Director Chris Cressy and Eatay’s Vice President of Imaging Solutions and Services Ben Schechter – Skyline Software showcased its photogrammetry software for large-scale digital twins. Making it easier than ever to capture large spaces like cities, the company showed how its software makes it easy to stream these high-resolution visualizations using “dynamic tiles.”

Leasing CSC

Sam Ahonen, HaaS program manager for Virginia-based CSC Leasing, described the benefits of engaging in an equipment-as-a-service model for drone companies. Given the expansion of the unmanned systems industry and the increased need for many companies to invest in equipment, Ahonen said alternative leasing arrangements make sense. With that in mind, he explained how CSC Leasing can provide flexible equipment financing solutions to help companies get the assets they need to achieve their goals and save money.

Sparrowhawk Radar

Scott Rahal, senior software developer at Canadian Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, took the stage to introduce the company’s subsidiary, Sparrowhawk Radar. Using ground-based radar as a base, the solution detects small aircraft and enables BVLOS flights. Rahal outlined various use cases, including wide-area surveillance, long-range missions, airspace monitoring and centralized piloting.

Geography of the Blue Marble

Cassidy Barkalow, Applications Specialist at Blue Marble Geographics, used her time during the Exhibitor Showcase Presentations to explain the principles of drone-based 3D modeling and point clouds. She discussed machine learning for training and automatic classification of point clouds and how her company is advancing this technology, exploring the integration of automated summary reports, data fusion, and further developments in machine learning.

3D test

Discussing the software side of drone-based photogrammetry surveys, Vid Peterman of 3Dsurvey outlined the company’s various features. Using a video demonstration, he outlined some of the different ways surveyors can use the software, including its ability to create accurate building outlines for use in CAD using their X-ray vision and how site videos can be used to create 3D models using videogrammetry. The presentation included a full list of features offered by the software, including the two mentioned above, along with contour lines, volume calculation, lidar data processing, and more.
