Elijah Ricardo Clunie fatally shot in Dorchester barber shop

No arrests were made. Investigators quickly determined the shooting was not random but did not release further details.

Police said a suspect was spotted running from the area, but it is unknown which direction he went.

On Tuesday evening, Clunie’s mother identified her son as the man killed in the barbershop shooting. She said he would have turned 21 on Saturday.

Not wanting to reveal her identity, she pulled back the curtain and peered through the screen window of her second-story apartment in Dorchester.

“Tell everyone to stop fighting and killing each other and to have more peace,” she said before closing the window.

The grandfather of the second man shot said his 20-year-old grandson was shot in the leg, chest and side of the head as he fled the barbershop.

Renier Thompson did not reveal the name of the grandson, but said he was the dead man’s best friend. Thompson said the victim was a rap artist and his grandson appeared in some of his music videos.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the barbershop shooting to call the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
