Driver dies in Nashville crash after driving into ditch and hitting utility pole

A man was killed Tuesday when he accidentally drove off the road in Nashville and hit a power pole.

A 46-year-old man was driving his BMW on Whites Creek Pike when, for unknown reasons, he left the road and went into a ditch, Metro Police report. The driver then struck a utility pole.

He was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he died. Work is currently underway to notify his family.

The driver did not show any signs of impairment at the scene and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Police say the man was driving north on Whites Creek Pike near Jackman Road around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when the crash occurred.
