Commanders suspend VP for degrading comments about players, fans and Roger Goodell

The Washington Commanders suspended vice president of content Rael Enteen on Wednesday after a video surfaced online of Enteen making disparaging comments about NFL fans, commissioner Roger Goodell, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Washington players.

Enteen’s comments were forwarded to an undercover reporter from O’Keefe Media Group.

The commanders issued the following statement:

“The language used in the video is inconsistent with our values ​​at Commanders,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “We have suspended the employee pending the outcome of the investigation and will have no further comment at this time.”

In the video, Enteen said the following, as transcribed by ESPN:

Enteen said players are “dumb as hell” and alluded to them getting hit in the head too many times.

Of Goodell and Jones he said:

Enteen said at the time that his job was to sell hope, and mentioned an incident at the former FedExField in 2021 when pipes burst. Officials denied at the time that they were sewage pipes, despite fans saying they smelled sewage. Enteen said he tweeted that it was just water and commented, “This is… state media.”

Enteen was hired in September 2020 and was one of the employees of former team president Jason Wright.
