Catawba man sentenced for trafficking methamphetamine

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Catawba man has been sentenced to 235 months in prison for trafficking methamphetamine, the United States Attorney’s Office announced.

Bobby Lee Fish Jr., 44, will spend more than 19 years in prison and then receive a five-year parole period.

Hickory police began investigating Fish’s drug dealing in 2022. On two occasions, the police department sent a confidential informant to purchase methamphetamine from Fish.

On May 2, 2022, officers stopped Fish’s vehicle for a traffic stop. During a search, police found four packages, each of which was later found to contain more than 900 grams of methamphetamine.

Earlier this year in April, Fish pleaded guilty to one count of distributing methamphetamine.

Fish has an extensive criminal history, with offenses committed in North Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
