BNA Global Entry registration temporarily closed

BNA Global Entry registration temporarily closed

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – People were able to sign up for Global Entry in Nashville. Now, the closest location is more than 200 miles away in Memphis, even though the website says the Nashville International Airport (BNA) location is open.

“The doors are locked and there’s no one home,” Linda Hughes said. “It’s very frustrating.”

Hughes is one of those who showed up to make an appointment without registering first, only to find a notice posted on the site:As of July 31, 2024, the Global Entry office will no longer be open.”

She, like Brad Baisley, is trying to get through the Global Entry interview process, a program that lets approved travelers clear customs more quickly and get TSA Pre-Check, which Baisley says will make his life easier.

“I work in the music industry. I do live sound production, so I travel about 100 days a year,” Baisley said.

He has been trying to get an appointment for weeks without success. At first, he thought he was just missing appointments.

“They just told me there were no openings. So I checked a few days ago in early September, the first business day, and there was still nothing,” Baisley said.

He went to the airport and saw the same closed doors. He is frustrated that he wasted so much time because the website said the location was open.

“They closed without telling anyone. If you go online to apply today, it looks like you can. Maybe there’s a glimmer of hope that you’ll finally get an appointment,” Baisley said.

We contacted US Customs and Border Protection, who say this is a temporary closure as they change locations. They say conditionally approved applicants arriving in the US after international travel can get a written interview.

The CBP New Orleans Field Office and the CBP Port of Nashville are actively working with the BNA Airport Authority to secure a permanent location for the Nashville Global Enrollment Center. The temporary suspension of online scheduling and office closure is due to this change as the office moves to a new Federal Inspection Services (FIS) facility. During this transition period, conditionally approved Global Entry applicants arriving from international travel to BNA will receive an interview at CBP Port of Nashville. Global Entry will continue to be available to passengers arriving from international travel to BNA Airport. Global Entry maintenance services, such as name change requests, will be temporarily performed in the airport terminal (1 Terminal Drive, Nashville, TN 37214) during office hours 15:00-21:00We appreciate your patience as we make these necessary changes to improve the facility and better serve our community.

We asked U.S. Customs and Border Protection why the website is not being updated and when it will reopen. We have not received a response.
