DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – A suspect was arrested after he opened fire on police and officers Wednesday morning, leading them on a high-speed chase.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the incident began with a reported break-in at a scrap yard near Chatfield Reservoir.

“The suspect allegedly rammed the deputy’s patrol car in an attempt to flee,” the sheriff’s office said.

Officers pursued the suspect, who began shooting. Englewood police joined the pursuit, which lasted more than 12 miles before the suspect crashed in Village Greens Park. They were immediately apprehended.

The scene at the scrapyard and the scene at the crash site remain active, and more information is expected soon. We will update this article as we learn more.
