Warden Community Days Filled with Community

GUARDIAN — Cheers chanted, horses galloped and motorcycles roared on Second Street in Warden on Monday as the city held a three-day celebration to mark Labor Day.

Warden Community Days kicked off Saturday with a car show, followed by dinner at Warden Park on Sunday. All the stops were pulled out on Monday.

The morning began with a pre-parade firefighter breakfast. The parade then marched down Second Street with curious children craving candy, proud parents of students on floats and those appreciating the Warden community. People watched as Warden Police, Grant County Fire District 4, horses, motorcycles, donkeys, football teams, cheerleaders and Warden’s beloved mascot, the Cougar, made an appearance.

After the parade ended, people walked a few blocks and filled Warden Park. There were vendors, reptiles, bubbles, basketball, a bouncy castle, dancing horses, live music and a Seattle Cossacks show.

“What a great festival here, the tacos are amazing,” said Seattle Cossacks Motorcycle Stunt and Drill Team Captain Sam Chedester. “Even though a lot of people may not be bikers or in the motorcycle community, when they see us, we get such a great reaction from the crowd. The city, the crowds, it’s amazing.”

There was also a volleyball and corn hole tournament in which you could take part.

Scott Petersen, The Reptile Man, also appeared with a crocodile, bearded dragon, snakes, turtles and lizards. He put on a show for the kids where he explained the different animals, how he recognized their gender and shared some interesting facts with the kids.
