The Jacksonville Jaguars will be counting on a different cast of veterans this season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed a number of players this offseason who they expect to play significant roles this season. The Jaguars had a number of areas they needed to improve in this offseason and believe they can do so through the NFL Draft and free agency.

The first game of the season is almost here, and the Jaguars will face the Miami Dolphins, one of the best teams in the National Football League last season.

Coach Doug Pederson believes the Jaguars have built a roster loaded with young, talented players that has now been paired with veteran talent, many of whom were added in free agency this offseason.

Coach Pedersen is hoping the experience of a number of recently signed free agents will rub off on the younger players.

“Yeah, I think those guys and all of our free agents that we brought in, number one, they added value and competition that we were looking for at their positions, and also some leadership,” Pederson said. “Experienced players who have played a lot of football, been on winning teams.”

Many of the players the Jaguars signed this offseason gained valuable experience playing elsewhere. Many of the free agents the Jaguars signed this offseason are listed as starters on the team’s current depth chart. Some, such as defensive lineman Arik Armstead, played in the Super Bowl.

Coach Pederson values the leadership that the newly added veterans bring to the team and believes their experience will help the team improve this season. As Coach Pederson continues to change the culture surrounding the Jaguars, adding experienced players with a track record of winning is a smart idea.

Their leadership and talent will be a valuable asset to the younger players on both sides of the pitch.

“Obviously, Arik (Armstead) has been to a couple of Super Bowls and he knows what it’s like, and so does (Ronald) Darby,” Pederson said. “I look at Mitch (OL Mitch Morse) and Gabe (WR Gabe Davis) and all those guys who have been at the top of the AFC offensively. I think it’s just their leadership and the value they bring to the table, not just their skill set and what they can bring offensively and defensively.”
