Men’s basketball head coach Penny Hardaway has removed three members of her coaching staff, according to Memphis’ Jason Munz. Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Per Munz, Hardaway has removed director of analytics Jermaine Johnson, director of player development Jamie Rosser and head coaching advisor Faragi Phillips from the team’s staff. Memphis’ coaching staff has already seen eight departures in the 2024 offseason.

The Tigers finished the 2023-24 campaign with a record of 22-10.

Memphis failed to make it to March Madness despite advancing to the NCAA tournament the previous two years under Hardaway.

The Tigers started the 2023-24 season strongly, winning 15 of their first 17 games. However, they failed to maintain their momentum and ultimately lost eight of their last 15 games.

In addition to the coaching staff turnover, Memphis’ roster will look very different next season. Forward Nicholas Jourdain is the only returning scholarship player after David Jones, last year’s leading scorer, joined the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-way contract in June.

Hardaway has been active in the transfer portal, and the Tigers have added several new faces this offseason. Memphis’ transfer class was ranked 11th in the country, according to 247Sports.

The team’s new roster is led by PJ Haggerty, who averaged 21.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for Tulsa in the 2023-24 season.

The Tigers will also be joined by Colby Rogers, who averaged 16.4 points per game and shot 39.1 percent from three last season against Wichita State.

Hardaway’s refreshed roster and coaching staff will debut on Nov. 4 when Memphis hosts Missouri at FedExForum.
