Miami Hurricanes see big jump in AP Top 25 after season-opening win over Florida

The Miami Hurricanes move up in the Associated Press Top 25.

On Tuesday, UM was in 12th place, seven spots higher than in the pre-season ranking, where it was 19th.

The Hurricanes’ move up the rankings came after a 41-17 win over the Florida Gators on Saturday in their season opener.

It is also the highest-rated team in the Atlantic Coast Conference after other top contenders in the league suffered early-season losses.

Clemson, which lost 34-3 to No. 1 Georgia, fell from No. 14 to No. 25. Florida State fell out of the rankings altogether after starting the season at No. 10 following losses to Georgia Tech and Boston College in consecutive weeks.

The remaining ACC teams finished in the top 25: No. 22 Louisville, No. 23 Georgia Tech and No. 24 NC State.

The Hurricanes continue their season with a home opener against Florida A&M on Saturday. Kick-off at Hard Rock Stadium is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.
