Maryland Woman Wins K Lottery After Years of Playing

DUNDALK, MD — A Baltimore County woman who goes by the pseudonym “Blue” to protect her anonymity had a sleepless night after discovering she had won the $50,000 Pick 5 prize in the Aug. 26 evening drawing. The winning numbers, which she selected based on a relative’s birthday, had been her favorite for 17 years.

“It kept me up all night. I couldn’t sleep,” “Blue” said after checking her numbers before bed and realizing she had won. A federal employee, she has been using the same five-digit combination since the Maryland Lottery introduced the Pick 5 in February 2022, and previously used variations of the numbers in the Pick 3 and Pick 4 games.

The $1 bet was placed at the Village Family Mart, located at 12 North Dundalk Avenue. Celebrating her big win with a friend by her side, “Blue” expressed plans to use the cash to pay bills and possibly tackle a home improvement project.

Village Family Mart also participates in the fun, receiving a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling a winning ticket.
