Lindy’s Sports names Alabama preseason basketball team #1 in the country

As the countdown to the college basketball season begins, Lindy’s Sports magazine on Tuesday released its rankings of the 10 best teams in the country.

Lindy’s was founded in 1982 and its products are manufactured and distributed in Birmingham, Alabama.

Alabama men’s basketball had a magical season last year, as it made it to the Final Four for the first time in school history. A staggering amount of returning talent combined with highly regarded transfers and freshmen was enough for Lindy’s to secure the Crimson Tide a spot on the mountaintop.

On August 22, the program announced that it would unveil the Final Four banner and raise it to the ceiling of Coleman Coliseum on October 11 at 8:30 p.m. Central Time, which is 17 days before the Rocket City Classic charity show against Memphis and 24 days before Alabama’s season opener at home against UNC Asheville. Tickets for the ceremony are $10.

The festivities will begin with introductions of the 2024-25 Alabama men’s basketball team, include a slam dunk contest, a 3-point contest and a friendly match. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a replica banner and Final Four poster.

After defeating Charleston (No. 13), Grand Canyon (No. 12), North Carolina (No. 1) and Clemson (No. 6) in the NCAA Tournament, the Tide’s magnificent Final Four run ended with an 86-72 rout of UConn. The Huskies defeated Purdue 75-60 in the National Championship, winning two straight titles.

Fast forward to today, and there is a strong argument to be made that this is the most anticipated season in Tide hoops history. Alabama has realistic expectations to pick up two more wins than they did in last year’s NCAA Tournament to capture the school’s first national title in history.
